DeviantArt... CSS?

So, I just bought a 3-month DA sub and I kinda wanna make my Journal pretty... I have NO idea what the hell CSS is.

Any help?

CSS is, essentially, a way to put styles on an HTML framework. You give every HTML element a name (or use the one it already has), and then each name gets its own style and position, if you want.

For good CSS reference you can check out the following:

CSS Zen Garden - this is a good example of what you can really accomplish using just CSS. They also have a resources section.

Holy CSS,Zeldman! - A really good list of CSS resources ranging from the simple to the complex.

Also- the following is my journal CSS- I just modified images and tweaked stuff a bit:

Same person has a number more layouts you can check out to get a better feel for things- there are also a ton available for use/modification on DA.
